Pascal Grangier's profile

La ruche à planter.

The motivation behind this project was to invite nature into people homes and facilitate their watering. Our intention was to work exclusively with natural materials and local ressources such as clay, beeswax and natural pigments.

More than a project is has been an aventure, rich of learnings, setback and perseverance.
How does it work ?

The clay pot regulate the humidity for the plant and depending on the species there is enough water for severals weeks.
By adding natural pigments to the beeswax we can create a range of colours.
Intersecting craft and design

The clay pot was design in 3D, printed to create a series of plaster moulds by hand.
Using beeswax to create the 2nd pot.

By melting beeswax and pouring the hot liquid into a silicone mould.
The process starts with 3D, designing of the pot and then thinking about how to build it with a 3 part mould assembly.
La ruche à planter, the result.

Finally the 2 elements comes together to create a natural and functional self watering pot for your indoor plants.
