This is a project from 2019, which earned me first place in the design competition issued by the Faculty of Textile Technology in Zagreb, Croatia. The assignment was to create a contemporary textile pattern design inspired by the traditional Croatian ethnographic motifs of "Slavonske Ponjave."
Despite being restricted to using only one color due to the screen printing technique used in a textile factory, I was able to create a striking and elegant design that captures the essence of the traditional motifs while bringing them into the modern world.
The design is called SPO-Y, a play on the Croatian word "SPOJ," meaning a date or connection. In the context of the traditional ethnographic motifs of "Slavonske Ponjave," these patterns and motifs were often gifted to young couples as a symbol of their union and connection.
