Adinath - The First God
Adi means First and Nath means God. Lord Shiva is called Adinath because he is the First God, Oldest God and Supreme God according to many texts. Shiva is parmatma, he is the divine power which fuels the universe. The universe was created there was vacuum and Niraakaara Parabrahma was in Samadhi, a subtle state of consciousness immerced in inward meditation. When the Samadhi ended Niraakaara Parabrahma emerged out as divine vibration’ Om’ which is the form of Lord Shiva. It is for this reason Vedas described Lord Shiva as Adinath
