Editorial design and scientific illustrations for a birdwatching field guide of tropical birds, developed for Biocentro Güembé.
Taking advantage of the small amount of birds included in this field guide, a navigation system was designed to make identifying each species by color scheme easier.
The predominant colors in each bird are featured on a small tab on the side of the page.
A style test was done to make sure the textures and details would read well on all illustrations. The third option, with digital brushes imitating gouache, was selected.
The value contrast in the detail was lower than the other two options, and it read better once printed.
