"I Saw Half of the Museum"
I love the St. Louis Art Museum and frequently visit. One day last fall I took an etching plate for a walk and ended up across from the museum. I drew half of it in celebration of the new wing that opened last year. Now the SLAM is large enough that it is difficult to see all of the artwork in one visit.
"Arrows"
Last summer I had the fantastic opportunity to be a photographer at Camp Huawni in the Piney Woods of Texas. This print was inspired by one of my favorite camp activities, archery.
"Which Way?"
This print is created by printing the "Arrow" plate once right side up and then a second time over it upside down. I love the places where the arrows meet in unexpected ways.
"Checkerboard
This etching uses aquatinting to get the range of grays.
"Crystal
The Earth and Planetary Science building at Wash U. has a fantastic collection of rocks and minerals on display. This is an etching of a sample of Apophyllite & Stilbite I found while researching naturally occuring patterns for my capstone project.
