A mini-project for my daughter.
She asked me to draw an axolotl and made up a story about it. I illustrated the main points in order to print the book later.
First I decided to draw the axolotl by reference...

And then I turned it into a character with its own character and mood.
According to the idea, the axolotl really liked to blow bubbles and really did not like living under water.
Therefore in the illustration with bubbles he is cheerful, and in the picture in his house - sad. And the world around him is gray.
In the made-up story, baby's wish came true - he ended up on top, but without his parents. He cried with despair. I conveyed his loneliness with composition and gray color - the character is smaller than usual on a sheet as big as the world.
Luckily for the baby - it was only a dream.
The parents were always there for him. The composition and colors of this illustration speak to the great love in the family. The axolotl realized what was truly precious to him.
This is a story about all the children of the world. Children are very vulnerable and see the world in two colors: bright or gray. And one would like to wish all children of the world a happy end in any story.
