Gardens Theatre
2019
The project entailed revamping the interior and entry of the Gardens Theatre at QUT using colour and lighting theory. The original design through data collection and analysis was found to predominantly use grey undertones with limited accents, patterns or excitement within the space. Due to this colour usage and lack of natural light penetration from consistent use of blinds made the space feel dark, heavy and uninviting. The new design aimed to create a multi-layered approach to lighting design, with more suitable task and ambient lighting. Also allowing more direct light penetration into the space, through more suitable blinds. It also focused on creating an experiential and sensory journey through colour and material. The design adds pops of excitement with a serene and elegant interior.
