Mead is the world’s first and oldest fermented beverage. Created through a basic combination of honey and water, this drink was the ancestor of beer and wine. In fact, it was ordered and drank by individual flagons.
Difficult to find in alcohol stores, Mead is usually batch-brewed privately in large casks or bottles. The idea behind this design was to bring mead to the alcohol market in a personal serving size– similar to the way beer is bought.

As mead is a wine/ale hybrid, the bottle's wide mouthed shape allows for the drinker to use both senses to consume the brew. The squared walls of the glass are also reminiscent of wooden and metal tankards found in the Iron Age.

The theme overall of the product focuses on the mead drinking and adventuring of the Nordic Vikings. The markings on the bottle are representative of petroglyphs and runic language found on rune stones in northern Europe– which were used to communicate their beliefs and culture to the next generations.

Aesir’s as a brand is named after the Norse gods–the Aesir. The brand identity is a historical marking representing Odin, the high god of the Aesir.
