Nature is geometrical, and so are the tocapu.
“La cultura inca y su historia a través del arte” is a fictional book about the Inca
civilization and the contributions of this community to the world through their art.
The project itself is the design of the front and back covers of the book,
a work that tries to convey the uniqueness of the Inca Empire's culture.
For the Inca, textiles were a symbol of power, and they were frequently used to differentiate social classes.
These fabrics are notorious for their geometrical designs. This kind of glyphs were known as tocapu, and they are believed to be a representation of nature and, possibly, a visual form of language.
The triangular structure in which these are placed in the book cover portrays a synthetized version of Machu Pichu’s big sacred pyramids, while the design at the back represents the layout in the fabrics.
The color palette is based in various earthy colors, since the Inca culture
worshipped nature and everything that was associated with it.
Challenge:
Designing a book cover that represents the culture of the Inca Empire based on their art creations.

Solution:
An imitation of one of their most fascinating works of art: the tocapu, as well as playing with their positions to create bigger imagery which evokes to other key points of this civilization.
