ぢょな Kimono Silk Scarves, Wraps and Accessories

Japanese women are adopting more Western wear as generations progress, reserving the kimono for special occasions.
The time to preserve the beauty of these silks is now.

My first scarves were completed and offered in 2014 after collecting authentic Japanese silk robes and panels from Japan.  All pieces are silk, and have been carefully washed before assembly.

- THE MAKING -
Silk garments are painstakingly deconstructed, inspected for damage, then carefully washed by hand to be fresh and free of soil, excess dye, body oil, dry cleaning solvent, camphor, smoke, and other residue.
NONE OF THE SILK USED HAS STAINS, HOLES, OR EXCESSIVE WEAR.

Fabrics are combined into a long, fluid form of art which is wearable or suitable for home display and use.  When created in wider styles, they also serve as a lovely wrap to chase a chill on a summer evening or in air conditioning, or as a unique accent for simple dresses and for bridal attendants.

Men's styles are more simple in construction, and normally feature the short frayed ends as found on USA and European scarves, or as pocket squares.

The items shown below are likely sold, but similar pieces are available - either with the same fabric or others.

River Houses - 100% Silk - 10" x 62" - $72   Shades of autumn and mossy greens.
Within each floor length kimono robe, there are up to five panels.
Therefore, only a few scarves will exist from the same silk,
ensuring that yours is a rare and unique accessory.
Butterflies in Clouds - 100% Silk - 12" x 63" - $72.   Sold, similar available.
Shades of pinks, mauve and muted blue:  All Rinzu (jacquard silk).
- THE PROCESS -
Each kimono robe or jacket is first carefully disassembled,
then picked clean of all threads, and checked for holes and stains.

The resulting panels are carefully hand washed and rinsed repeatedly, this was the traditional process in centuries past to clean after wearing.

Each piece is planned to a minimum of 60" in length, and sewn with silk
thread by machine, finished by hand with ribbon kanzashi flowers, gold accent stitching, or embroidery in silk fibers.  Yours will become totally you!

Instead of reassembling into a seldom-worn robe, these lovely silks have now been crafted into a modern accessory with the quality and spirit of a bygone era.  Please dry clean, or spot clean using Carbona dry cleaning fluid or similar.
Waves in Autumn - 100% Silk - 10" x 60" - $82  Sold, similar available.
Olive, terra cotta, rust, peach, salmon:  Seigaiha and Rinzu with gold hand-stitching
- GUIDANCE ON CARE -
While all of my silk and wool blend fabrics have been washed, each fabric can tighten differently
when wet, so best advice is for being dry cleaned only, spot-cleaned with fluid (not a pre-treater).

A few raindrops or snowflakes only result in the possibility of need for light pressing.

Should you need to spot clean, please use Carbona or similar fluid or pads
(not a water-based pre-treater for washing, nor a stain stick).
Please ask your dry-cleaner to use low-moisture light pressing to ensure a lifetime of use.

In this way, even future generations can enjoy your piece for many years to come.
Purple Posies - 100% Silk - 12" x 62" - $67  Sold, other purple floral available.
Violets, purple, deep lilac with pale yellow:  Rinzu, Chirimen, Taffetta
Pieces are subject to prior sale, but pieces with a similar feel are available for your approval.
While pre-made pieces are ready to ship, a custom scarf or wrap can be created and shipped within a week - to be perfect for your wearing or gifting.

Since I disassemble full kimono robes, I may have more of a given fabric, or choices quite different from those pictured here - the silks are delightfully varied in color and spirit, and only made from panels in pristine condition

Photos of your options for color and design would be mocked-up, photographed and e-mailed to you, executed only after your approval.  This ensures your complete satisfaction.

To this base I will add optional embellishments of ribbon, fabric loops, or silk embroidery, to further personalize and separate you from the masses or traditional mass-market scarves.
