Akin: One of the Same Kind
Geewel Fuster is the editor-in-chief of BluePrint magazine and an influential thought leader in the architectural and interior design industry. As someone who creates, wears, and breathes art, she wanted to share her artistic world through a brand that offers well-known Filipino artisan products.
She approached us in pursuit of the ideal name that would welcome a global market. Geweel clarified that didn’t want her name as the brand, nor did she want it to feel exclusive in any way. She wanted a name that reflected her passion while also appealing to both domestic and international customers.
Though Geweel was hesitant to launch during the COVID-19 pandemic, we instead saw it as an opportunity for people to invest in their lifestyles more than before.

A Word That Unites You And Me
Akin is the name we came up with. It is a Filipino word that means "mine" and "of similar nature" in English. The brand incorporates the artist's distinct identity into products such as dishware, accessories, and clothing — while also catering to the general public's taste.
Curating the Look
We designed a custom font to represent Akin's curated and creative charisma. The 'k' curvature was extended to embrace other letters as a sign of belonging, representing Geewel's generosity in sharing access to local artisan products.
To complement the variety of pieces that Geewel plans to share, the designers chose a dominantly neutral color palette with a bold pop of purple to represent Geweel’s artistry.
Creating a Unique Voice
Geweel's exquisite, feminine style is reflected in the overall branding. The logo and color palette were simple, but they were distinctively Akin's. These elements helped the brand stand out across multiple platforms and collaterals; and Akin's branding, like Geweel's classic aesthetic, will never go out of style.
