A promotional pop-up exhibition space to showcase Hangzhou at an outdoor event space, Dataran Merdeka which located at Jalan Raja, City Centre, 50050 Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur for 1 year. With its enhancing natural scenery and rich cultural heritage, designer takes the advantages of the outdoor spaces to let the visitors explore and enjoy the experience. Since Hangzhou is gradually being transformed into a city of technology such as Alibaba, this exhibition also brings interactive experiences to promote Hangzhou through their history, food, place of interest, silk, tea, festival and religion outfitted with modern technology.
COURTYARD

West lake is an iconic, symbolic sight in Hangzhou and is regarded as one of the most beautiful sights in China. Its beauty is lakes, mountains, numerous temples, pagodas, gardens and natural / artificial islands within the lake. An elegant, peaceful scenario based on the power of water and hill landscapeing is what the design trys to pursue in this project. To achieve the ideal version of the architectural language, the designer makes a courtyard, where sunlight is allowed to pass through and rain to fall through, as the center of the building. The diagonal wall line serves to connect the frame of the building and the frame of the courtyard. Its west, east and south are buildings, only the north side is relatively open which is full of typical Jiangnan flavor. The architectural ideas takes both the atmosphere of traditional oriental yards and western modernism approaches into consideration.

The shape of the roof ridges is a mimic of the mountain-silhoutte while the buildings embrace the silent water, which reflects the mountain shades. With tree branches and leaves waving in the wind, trails winding and turning upon the free-flowing water underneath, the sunken courtyards and theme clubhouse all add silence and coziness to the recluse life in the nature and this totally reflect the West Lake in Hangzhou.
