Balance and Tension
This is a project I completed for my color theory class. We were tasked to fit three 4" x 4" squares, three 2" x 2" squares and four 1"x1" squares into an 8"x8" square. We had to start by creating gray scale version of our layout where all the squares were different gray values. We then had to transfer those saturation levels into our colored design.
My goal for this assignment was to create a somewhat chaotic layout, only because I had seen examples that were so square to me that it didn't excite me. By adding rotation and overlaps I became much more excited by this design! I tried to create the effect that all of the squares were balancing off of each other and against the walls.
