Mike Spolar's profile

Who Has Won the Most Golf Majors?

Mike Spolar is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and an accounting graduate from Chancellor University. He currently runs his accounting firm, Lackey & Company, CPAs, in Westlake, Ohio. Outside of work, Mike Spolar is an avid golfer.

Golf has four major tournaments, the Masters, the PGA Championship, and the US and British Opens. If a golfer wins all four tournaments in a year, they’ll have achieved a Grand Slam. No golfer has done this yet, but Tiger Woods came close to it when he won all the golf majors in 365 days between 2001 and 2002 to achieve a Career Grand Slam.

In terms of most golf major victories, Jack Nicklaus holds the record with 18. From 1962 at 22 years to 1986, Nicklaus won 4 US Opens, 3 British Opens, 6 Masters, and 5 PGA Championships. His record is unlikely to be broken soon, given the current stiff competition within the golf majors.

After Nicklaus, Wood’s has won the second-most golf majors with 5 Masters, 3 US Open titles, 3 British Opens, and four PGA Championship victories for a combined 15 golf majors titles.
