Conceptual Book Cover
For this assignment we are to design three book covers for a classic novel that constructively communicates the author’s message or way of thinking behind the narrative while using the narrative’s factors and components to connect the message to the story.
Using one of the seven creative strategies we learned in Project 1 and applying one to the cover. In designing the three book cover variations for the book using 3 different methods.
The first using Typography only for the design. The second is Handmade, using collage, photographs, etc. and assembled by hand. The third method is Designers Choice, it can be put together in any style or format, as long as it employs a clever creative strategy.

The Book "Black Beauty" was my choice. It is a wonderful story written by Anna Sewell in 1877. The story is about a beautiful black horse, the hardship, struggles and triumphs he endures in his life. It was written "to induce kindness, sympathy, and an understanding treatment of horses." Anyone who reads this book can obtain so many great concepts and knowledge of what it is to show trued kindness to not only animals but everyone around you.
Type Only
Creating a horse with the title of the book, combining them with the outline of the horse. Giving the effect that the letters are painted within the horse.
Handmade
Using buttons and other metal embellishments placed by hand to create the silhouette of a horse head as the vocal point for the cover.
Designer Choice
Cover is designed with the intent that is portrays the hardship and struggles of what Black Beauty endured.
Back Cover
Summary of what the book is about and what the reader can expect.
