The Zhongshan Building is a new arts and research community located at the corner
of Jalan Rotan in Kampung Attap, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. A deep research done on
Kampung Attap instead of only go site visit at Zhongshan building. Research on four
Kampung Attap instead of only go site visit at Zhongshan building. Research on four
aspects which is community, economy, culture and architecture.
Narrative Poster
My narrative poster is willing to tell the story about the development evaluation in
Kampung Attap from the past, the present and the future. In connection with the
development stated in Kampung Attap, a installation art is designed which given a
sign of that Kampung Attap as “a long sleeper”, but he is about to regain a new life.
The layout design for poster from the bottom part to the upper part is the development
stage from the past to the future.
Idea Concept
The idea is inspiration from the streets on Kampong Attap. The streets are linked
together to form a diamond shape. The Zhongshan Building is at the diamond shaped
bounded area. Cities can’t keep growing bigger; we must harness what we already
have and make it work. That’ s “new ideas must use old buildings”. With the concept,
combination of old and new, the development of kampung Attap will be transformed
persistently.

The model is consist of two parts. The orange bound is more tricky in irregular
triangle form to show the future development for Kampung Attap is unknowingly,
also seen like a little bit fantastic in shape to give a expectation on having amazing
buildings or development in Kampung Attap.
The another red bound is more in consistent arrangement, a sign of boring, which
represented the condition of the buildings exist in Kampung Attap as most of the
buildings are in unremarkable and less uses.
