Final product
What was the assignment?
The assignment that we were given was that we had to create a new book cover for an already existing book. I choose the book "Fokking druk" by Thijs Launspach.

Sketching
I struggled a lot with the sketching fase. I wasn't sure what tone to go for with my illustration. did I want to go cute and cartoony? or serious? I eventually came to the conclusion that taking the more serious sketches and refining them, since this book covers a serious subject.
This was the sketch I ended up with.
After we finished our sketches, we had to hand them over to one of our clasmates for a draw-over. they recieved mine and I recieved theirs.
on the left was her sketch and on the right was my draw-over.
And here is the one she did of mine. her two main things were that she gave my character a face so that the expression would be clear and to clutter it up more, to make it more busy.
After we made the finished illustration our teacher wanted us to make a mock-up of the book cover. So I opend up photoshop and put my drawing on some books.
I really struggled with this assignment, but I'm happy with the end result.
