Caiman, the Eternal Kingsguard
The Kingdom of Fortificare is a dominant empire residing in the north. Led by the Fortiors, a royal family believing in strength arising from trust beyond origin and appearance. Such is the case with Caiman, a Kingsguard serving the royal family for centuries.
Born with crimson skin and green scales, people, including his parents, feared Caiman. They used to call the young Lizardkin blighted, blaming him for any misfortune that comes to them and abandoning him. It led Caiman to learn to live on his own at a very young age. One day, Caiman went to the woods to catch some Applepigs to contribute to the upcoming festival. When he got back, the townsfolk saw the Applepigs he carries and accused him of stealing baits. They then brought him to the palace to face trial in front of King Caru Fortior. When asked by the King for an explanation, the young Caiman told him that he did use any bait and just imitated the Applepig's sound to call its attention. Caru asked for the Applepig to be brought into the palace to see if Caiman can catch its attention by imitating its sound, and he did. The King found Caiman not guilty and asked him what punishment should the accusers receive. Caiman told the King that he wants them to confess their wrongdoings to their sons and daughters. The bewildered King asked why, and he answered by saying that it's so that the children from the Kingdom will learn of this and not grow up like their parents.
The palace went silent, with the townspeople humbled by his answer. King Caru was astounded, and at the same time, sees kindness in Caiman despite everything that happened. After the trial, the King declared that Caiman will now live and serve in the palace, where he will be under his protection. Caiman asked why, and Caru just answered that despite some of the citizens being wicked at times, they are still under the protection of his Kingdom, and he knows that Caiman understands it, too. Since then, Caiman protected the Fortiors from all kinds of enemies. He has taken care of Caru and all his successors for centuries.
