3D environment is a crucial step of game design and the collaboration of cultures' influence has become a trend in different games such as persona 5, Hit Man and Genshin Impact. While the different design with the collaboration of different cultures has been commonly established with Japanese culture, there are less environmental designs using Indonesia as inspiration. This Major Project is not only to showcase industrial standard environment design but also levitate Indonesia culture potential as 3D Environment inspiration.
"Kuil Air Surut” is a 3D video game environment featuring the Galungan festival intended for AAA game environments. Kuil means temple and air surut means low tides. The name of the project means the temple that is only accessible during the low tides. Inspired by Indonesia's traditional culture and festival, Kuil Air Surut is a showcase of cultural 3D modeling and game art design. Kuil Air Surut is a temple inspired by Tanah Lot and Monkey Temple in Bali, where the temple is submerged in water during the high tides. The game environment is a result of three years of studying animation with the combination of design principles, composition and 3D modelling, the designers push their limit to produce a small area that imitates a small area in the video game.
Progress of 3D modeling, LowPoly, HighPoly, UV mapping and textures.
Modular and Non-Modular assets progress in coloring and masking.
