YAYOI KUSAMA-BIOGRAPHY SITE
Carlee Mckenzie
Yayoi Kusama is acknowledged as one of the most influential artists to come out of Japan and has been a working artist since the early 1960's. Kusama is a contemporary artist that works mainly in installation art. Her work focuses on her mental state and emotions, which she expresses by using dots. This theoretical website biography explores the life of Yayoi Kusama and her work.

Identity
The primary word-mark was designed to have a hand-written, playful quality that incorporates Kusama's iconic dots in some way.

The bold red and white color scheme derives from her work, as she uses red and white in many of her installation pieces, infinity rooms, and paintings.
The goal of this project was to design and code an artist's biographical website, creating all assets to best represent the artist. HTML, CSS, and jQuery were used to complete this responsive site design.
UI/UX
Throughout the site, dots are used to aid visual flow. For example, on the about page, the dots guide the user down the page. The timeline on the life page is used for this same purpose.

The dots' fade in/out animation add visual interest to the beginning of each page.

Additionally, the placement of dots is used throughout the about and life page to add visual interest and breakup the geometric feel from the photos and text. Constraints of this element were applied to the work and highlights page, as the content takes up the full screen and should be the main focus.
