Glam Skull Subculture

Day of the Dead or Dia de Muertos is celebrated in Mexico between 31st October and 2nd November. Sugar skulls were often used to decorate the gravestones of the deceased on this day. My entire concept is based on the belief that death is not the final stage in one's life but a further step into the highest level of conscience. Immortalising the dead and their memories is the most important aspect of this subculture. The symbolism of a sugar skill is rooted in the decoration around the eyes. The headgear that I created is my interpretation of this subculture, the flowers are meant to symbolise life while cob webs symbolise death. The halo like structure at the top provides a divine element of immortality to the entire structure.
