When I work on any kind of decently sized project I do color tests and guides to set the mood and integrate client feedback before starting the bulk of the project to keep work efficient and within budget with a shared goal in mind.

In this first example we shifted up the saturation levels and punch up the contrast on certain pages to emphasize the change in location or emotion.

The following is an example of my full color process when working by myself to establish the palette, prep line work, set the background tones, establish flats and then add highlights, shadows and any "special effects" like colored line art.
