at Carpe Diem Arte e Pesquisa
In 2013 I spent a week working at Palácio Pombal, in Lisbon, where the gallery Carpe Diem is based now. It's an old historical building with a private garden. My goal was to capture the environment of that secret garden where we could listen to the sounds of the old central Lisbon but yet be isolated from it. Like we were on a different dimension.
What caught my attention was the ground. The same ground shared by so many different people for centuries. All the moments that came and went. All the colours and textures and shapes that remain.
All paintings were done with oil paint on 14,8 x 21 cm ( 5 7/8 x 8 1/4 inches) paper.
