Board game (concept, prototype & testing)

Stages:
Brain storm:
Stack to Shack! (Normal)

Objective:
-Stack your blocks and place your shack at the top. The shack with the tallest stack wins.

Setup:
1.Blocks
Each player will have turns selecting the type of blocks they want. The blocks in use will be piled up into the middle. Players will keep taking blocks until the pile in the middle has disappeared.

2.Board
Once all players have received their blocks the players will have to ensure they have all these things listed:
   -shack
   -blocks
   -timer

3.Gameplay
After the players have gathered their blocks, they are tasked to set up a timer for 2 minutes in order to build the highest stack, if at any time during those 2 minutes the stack falls the player will still have a chance to rebuild everything. Once the player has decided that they are finished before the timer runs out they can place their shack on top of the stack to show that they have completed their task. However if the stack falls during or after the placement of the shack, the player who placed that shack will face a loss at the hands of their opponent. If the timer runs out and the player has yet to finish their stack they are forced to place their shack, if their stack falls they will end up losing. If both players do make it to the end, the victor is to be decided by the height reached by their shack and stack.

First run through
Good notes:

Everyone understood the rules I had set up right away and immediantly started to play. The game was short enough that everyone got multiple chances to play and was just long enough that everyone felt as if they had enough time to play.

Bad notes:

Everything was going well until I introduced a mode I was working on called Blitz mod. The players had trouble understanding the concept because it was a very last minute idea I had thought of recently.

Changes needed:

In my opinion until I can fully polish the Blitz mode I should be working on the normal mode rules in order to have a polished game I can present. Although I would like to have more modes in order to have variety, if the game is not playable it will be useless for me to present it.

If I had extra time:
If I were to have additional time I would definitly polish the Blitz mode in order to give the players more variety and choice when playing. I would have also searched for more block types, in my opinion the normal blocks can get boring and if I were to add more creative shapes it would help with the overall experience of the players.
