I happened to collect a few bamboo strips from a craftsman and during the lockdown, decided to make a lamp out of it.
Firstly, I split the bamboo strips along its vertical fiber into appropriate sizes for the design.
Home dyed a few strips into a yellow tint by boiling it in turmeric water.
Home dyed few more strips in a tint of brown by boiling them in tea water.
The resultant naturally dyed yellow and brown strips beside the original bamboo strips.
With the help of a bowl, created an organic nest out of the bamboo strips using Fevicol as the binding agent. Integrated yellow and brown strips into the weaving.
Added a bulb to the sphere and a base to the dome using natural coloured and dyed bamboo strips.
Stuck the base of the dome with the bulb intact in between the surfaces.
And the light was installed as a drop down light above my workstation.
