These were created for a university assignment about photo manipulation in the media, with the prompt to create something that should be real, but looks like it could be.

I was inspired by classic cryptid stories, like Bigfoot and the Mothman, and how the rumours and misinformation around them spreads quickly out of desperation for an answer, and how we can often see images in things where nothing is present to confirm our own biases. I was also inspired by sites like Instagram and Buzzfeed which tend to package their news with the idea of ‘convenience over content,’ sighting ideas more on word-of-mouth appeal and easy shareability rather than hard hitting facts.
