Gamejam : Doppelganger

Game design work
I play a lot of video-games. Being passionate about them, I decided to put my passion to work and try to make one. With a friend, we put ourselves in a game-jam condition to produce a proof of concept in one day.
In a game-jam, there is a theme around which the game should be built. This is the one we chose.

Initial situation
We studied the theme and iterated about how to shape the concept in an actual game. We thought at first of a game where the main character was self-destructive, like a candle that would burn as it moves or uses any kind of ability, or an ice cube that would melt.

I wasn't happy with these idea because it was finally just a fancy way to limit the amount of actions the player could do.

Then we came with the idea that the player, when controlling the main character would also control the ennemy, and this is how the main idea was born.

Concept
Proof of concept
- The grid represents the level, where the player and the ennemy move

- The two circles are the player and the ennemy

- In the left corner, and also on the terrain, there are the first ideas of special cells for the game
