doculife.

We were tasked to design for palliative care patients through which we would need to either create a product or a solution in order to combat any challenges that these patients may face within South Africa. The outcome will need to take on sustainable design solutions in order to create a suitable integrated system that takes into account both the patient and their loved ones.

Through which our aim is to design a future planning system for palliative care patients before and after their passing. This integrated system will also need to provide extra support for the patients' family and friends.
We have found that there is a dire need for the processing of important documentation for palliative care patients before they pass. This becomes a necessity in order to remove any burden that may be placed on their family once they pass and to ensure that the patients’ needs, and wishes are considered.
Point Of View:
Palliative care patients need a collective system that takes care of legal and financial matters, end of life care, funeral plans and how they wish to be remembered so that all their preferences and needs are taken into account after their passing.

How Might We:
How might we provide a future plan for palliative care patients in order to ensure their needs, wants and preferences are available for their family, caregivers and themselves so that their wishes may be honoured and the family will not feel burdened?
Below highlights the list of all the necessary documentation these patients will need and how we have adapted to it in order to take the admin out of the documentation. The documentation has also been colour coded based on their specific section which they fall into.
Palliative care patients need a collective system that takes their needs, wants and preferences into account before and after their passing as well as providing extra support for their loved ones.
Doculife is a future planning system which provides the processing and storage of all documentation for palliative care patients in order to provide an integrated system that benefits both the patient and their loved ones.
Final Website Output:
Landing Page:

Our landing page welcomes the user through the use of our slogan "Turning worries into memories". Below we have then displayed our services through the use of a carousel allowing the user to swipe left and right, our services include scanning, uploading, our personalized templates and reward badges.
Home Page:

Below the carousel we have an about us section providing information about us and what our system entails. We then provide our various categories which the user can click into to find more information and receive advice on those specific topics.
Sign In:

We then have our sign in page which consists of various colours in order to make it enjoyable and even personalized.
Sign Up:

We also have a sign up page in order to allow new individuals to join our system by creating an account.
Once Logged In:

Once the user has logged into their account a navigation bar will be present at the bottom of the page. This navigation bar will allow the user to switch between their progress, documentation and our templates. The progress page will portray how well the user is doing and how much documentation is left to process. The documents section will entail a list of all the documentation the individual may need, by which they are able to scroll through all the documents. The templates page will then provide the various templates that we offer which will be available for download.
Our Categories:

Our main function within our website is our categories through which the user will be able to select a category from the progress page. Our main topics consist of my life, my wishes, my belongings, my earnings and my health.

Each topic is displayed through the use of one colour in order to make it fun, colourful and simplistic. Thereby if a document has been uploaded it will be highlighted the colour of that category and if not it will appear in a grey colour.

We also needed to ensure that the overall processes were simple through which we created pop-ups for scanning, uploading and not applicable in case the user does not have a specific document. As well as a pop-up if the user would like to view or make changes to a document that they have already uploaded.

If the user were to complete a whole section by uploading all their documentation they will be congratulated and their progress bar will be updated accordingly. The progress bar has been designed in such a way that it identifies that they have completed that specific section but they must not forget about the others.
My Life:
My Wishes:
My Belongings:
My Earnings:
My Health:
My Badges:

Then our rewards system through which we will award the user with a badge based on their accomplishments and how well they are doing in terms of uploading their documentation. This is also a way of encouraging the user to carry on in order to ensure that they upload all their documentation so that it is ready for future use.
The following mock-ups display what our website will look like on a mobile device:
In conclusion we were challenged to create an integrated system for the future planning of palliative care patients. This system needed to take into account both the patient and their loved ones as a form of extra support and to ensure that the family does not feel burdened.

Through which our website is intended to deal with all of palliative care documentation by processing it and storing it into a cloud system which is kept safe for the family once the individual has passed.

We also portrayed this system through the use of bright colours and fun icons in order take the admin out of the documentation and create a smooth and easy process that could possibly be seen as enjoyable.

However, our only short coming is exploring how we could make our website easily accessible to less privileged individuals.
