My good friend Leah Marlene asked me to create album covers for her new project "The Space Between" and its accompanying singles "Spacesuit" and "Today" which you can see here and here. I always love working with Leah! She is such a gifted musician and wonderful, compassionate person. This album is very close to her heart and she shares some really honest struggle in this music. I am honored that she trusted me to create art for her art! Thanks, Leah!

Leah really liked the way I had incorporated collage into my other projects, so we decided to carry the collage theme throughout her single covers and the final album cover. I made this collage by hand, scanned it in two parts, and made edits in Photoshop.

For the text, I asked Leah to send me photos of her handwriting. This album is very personal and intimate, so we wanted to carry that theme through the whole project. We decided that incorporating Leah's handwriting would be a great way to personalize the cover and add her touch to it. I always love working with handwriting! I vectorized the photo using Adobe Capture and then smoothed everything out in Illustrator.

Originally, we used _____ to represent the word "space" in the title, but music streaming distribution requirements needed the text on the cover to match the album title verbatim.

When we made the necessary changes to the text, this was our final product!
