TELLUS
Wine box that morphs into an insect hotel

Tellus was born from the idea of creating a reforming packaging; a sustainable wine box that morphs into an insect hotel. The main objective of the project is to give a second life to traditional wine packaging and, at the same time, help insects by offering them a refuge through the packaging transformed into a hotel.

Tellus attends to a current problem; the bees are suffering a decrease in their population due to the hostility of the environment, for this reason, the structure of the container presents a comfortable habitat to establish a prosperous community for the adequate development of the insect.

The exterior of the dimension is cured with solid oak wood that preserves the hotel from possible meteorological adversities. The interior is an arrangement of bamboo canes, ideal for the comfort of the insects. The structure of the box allows connection between boxes of the same category to generate large communities to strengthen the protection of the species. These communities can be placed in the users' private garden or in natural locations suggested by a scannable QR code inside the box, which indicates to the user their nearest Tellus community.

This is a conceptual project made in June 2021 at the second year of the graphic design degree at Ramon Llull University.
