The logo above was supplied by the client had very fine lines and was a low res PNG which would not be legible on the spine of a book.  

When creating the logo keeping the fonts bold enough to be read at a .5" x .5" size was key. The cattails portion of the logo was created to be reminiscent of book pages while also representing the author as the cattail and the pages/ leaf blades as her family.
