Design Critique - Cleaning Product

How many typefaces were used?
On this Bosisto’s multi-use cleaning spray, two typefaces have been used. One for the logo, and one for the rest of the label.

What kind of typefaces are used and how do they relate to each other?
Both typefaces are a sans serif typeface. The logo is a slightly more decorative typeface to help differentiate itself from the rest of the label.

How did the designer use space and alignment to organise the text?
The front of the label uses centre alignment for the front of the label and has used space to separate main points regarding the product. The back of the label uses right-hand alignment. As the back has a lot more information to communicate to the consumer, minimal spacing has been used. As the text and alignment are tidy, it is easy to read and does not appear overcrowded.

What were the treatments used to differentiate text and organise information — size, scale, treatment (colour, effects)?
To draw attention to the logo and help differentiate this from the rest of the label, the colour of the logo is yellow with a red background. The name of the product “multipurpose” is bold white text, centred towards the middle of the label. The rest of the text is black. On the back of the label, spacing and bolding of important facts have been used to organise this information. The base colour for the background of the label is a light brown colour, similar to Kraft paper. This colour gives a “natural” or organic” feel to it.

What are the other elements on the label (logos, images, graphics, rules, background colours)?
There is a picture of two leaves behind the logo. There is also a small table used towards the bottom of the front that allows for the information to appear easier to read.

What is your opinion about the quality of the label? Does it work? Is it aesthetically pleasing? Is it effective? Why do you think that is?
I think the label is successful in conveying its message that this product is a more “natural” based cleaning agent. The information about the product is also easy to read for the consumer. However, I think the label (logo included) does appear a little outdated with some of the colours that have been used. Some small tweaks to this, and also a slight rearrange to the front of the logo would allow for this label to be more aesthetically pleasing.

How does the use of type and its organisation on the label influence the aesthetic quality and efficiency of this label?
The use of type and organisation of the label has been executed well. The information is clean and easy to read. This heightens the aesthetic quality of the label.
