The inspiration for this project came from a similar optional project a couple years ago in class where we made bolts of lightning in Photoshop. I didn't have the time to do it back then, so I brought it back with a couple extra steps added. The most challenging part of this project was making the lightning itself because the Photoshop effects randomly generate your lightning, so it took me a while to get the right pieces to stitch together the bolt I wanted. Once the shape was made I colorized it blue and put it into a scenery created from an image of a mountain clouded by stormy weather, where I then layered the lightning to look like it was striking areas behind the largest and smallest mountain.
