Role: Modeling; Sculpting; Look Development
Fun freelance project I collaborated on with the team at Element X Creative in Dallas, TX, for the IFC Christmas Eve commercial. My primary responsibility was the Modeling and Look Development of miniature Christmas Village style buildings, loosely based on references provided by the client. This consisted in doing a sculpt pass in Zbrush to round up the edges a bit and get rid of straight flat surfaces, in order to sell the miniature look. Additionally, I modeled a couple of children figurines featured in the background and re-sculpted the faces of the hero characters from the provided models to oversimplify their look (replacing their eyeballs for black dots and mouths with teeth for imperfect sculpted lips) to create a closer resemblance to small handcrafted figurines. I was also responsible for an initial shading test in Redshift to give a waxy look on the character faces.
