Farms & Villages - Chiayi, Taiwan | Illustrations

Illustrations of Chiayi, Taiwan ⛰️
A series of illustrations of the southwestern part of Taiwan called Chiayi (嘉義), featuring Alishan mountain, a place filled with mountain wilderness, villages, and hiking trails.
Tea Farm in Alishan Mountain. I had never seen a tea plantations before until this trip to the mountains to Alishan, which is in Chiayi in the southwestern part of Taiwan. Alishan is filled with mountain wilderness, villages, and hiking trails. A huge number of tea farms can be seen across the landscape on these mountains, exactly like in the illustration above. They reminded me of ocean waves. It was absolutely breathtaking!

Fenchihu Old Street (奮起湖老街). Plenty of villages sit in the mountains of Alishan. Here is one called Fenchihu Village, with many shops, restaurants, and vendors. According to Travel King, this place is considered the highest elevation in Taiwan. I didn't realize I visited the highest 7-11 convenience store in Taiwan.
On the mountains in Alishan, you can find several turkeys living in a traditional Taiwanese house. We drove by a group once, and I was astounded to see them, especially since I've been playing Age of Empires for so long and I get to see them in person. This also marks the first time in my life drawing turkeys.
Hinoki Village: a cultural village with thirty buildings constructed during the Japanese rule. According to Wikipedia, it used to be dormitories of the Chiayi Forest division of Forestry Bureau of the Taiwan Governor General Office.
Chiayi train station: It was constructed in 1896, and I love that the train station is kept and used the way it is even today. Unlike the station in Taichung, where, while the old station there is preserved, it is not used anymore but moved to a new, modern building next to it.
