Welcome To Picnic Park!
The Idea
Picnic Park was created to shrink kids and their parents down to the size of an ant as they explore a world of ants who have taken over an abandoned picnic and are inviting you to come join their party.
The large watermelon archway welcomes the new ant friends into the park by setting the mood and allowing the guests to meet their first ant friend, establishing scale and a sense of integration with the ants. Kids can use the sides of the watermelon and the seeds sticking out to climb around and fall on the soft, painless floor underneath. Water also falls from the top and can slightly spray incoming guests.
Some tables are placed around the park and are held up of different small objects found by the ants with toothipck tabletops, popsicle stick benches, and crayon and paper plate umbrellas. They give visitors a place to sit, eat and relax out of the sun. The crayons also glow at night in their correspoding color to give people vision at night.
Overall, my objects in the park were not incredibly interactive, but moreso dealt with logistics and theming. I also created the full model which can be seen below that helps to personify these ideas and show how they contribute to the whole experience.
