Quincy Typeface
For my final major project at UCA Farnham, I chose to challenge myself by learning a new skill in creating a typeface that was completely new to me. Such a typeface design concept had intrigued me throughout the period of my course and this brief and the freedom to develop it within a personal format was attractive.
I set myself a particularly challenging task, however, which was to have a typeface complete in five weights and in a working font format to be used in a promotional poster. To achieve this I had to learn how to use a new piece of software at the time (Fontographer) and within the time constraints I was only able to complete one fully working weight. In spite of this I still derived a good deal of satisfaction from the completed project.
