THE TWIN FLAMES SERIES
I recently came across the term Twin Flames. In todays world where everyone is so focused in finding their soulmate in their partner. A soulmate can be anyone it isn't necessary that one's partner is there only soulmate. one person can have multiple Soulmates. The concept of Soulmates is highly Romanticised through the various forms of mediums, be it books, movies, shows or etc..
After reading some articles on Twin Flames it truly invoked the creativity within me to depict it through a medium, where i can control the emotions and showcase the true meaning of Twin Flames from my point of veiw. that is where the conceptualization of this series began.
Radha Krishna are forever known and worshipped for their Unconditional bond and love that they shared for each other. When I decided to showcase the concept of Twin Flames through my paintings nothing else seemed to fit better. While it is easy to confuse a Soul Mate or Karmic Bond with a Twin Flame relationship, a Twin Flame alone can truly mark that difference. In one word it is a SACRED relationship, two souls embodied into ONE. Then that ONE SOUL is given two bodies, one given by the Universe where Souls are bonded for the deepest transformative exercises of highest self-actualization.
Krishna is the highest revered Hindu God and Radha was his eternal love. Krishna’s wife was not known in history but Radha continues to be worshiped and their UNCONDITIONAL bond has set the stone for inspiration for generations. Despite his marriage, his true communion was with Radha, an attraction they both could not resist and was also cherished by humanity.
THE BEGINNING
The journey of the twin flames start with the culmination of two souls into one soul, which is then divided in two physical bodies. The Twin flame journey is an endurance of the Spirit. It is not a journey for the feint-hearted, neither spiritually nor physically. The twin flames call to one another, they pull towards one another, and the physical body of each twin, is in a state of flux, because it does not recognise at this point, that the souls are yearning to be reunited as one again. The journey of a twin soul is not one of ease and comfort but a journey where the souls embark on balancing the deeds of past and present life times. The peacock feather depicts the same, the bright and colourful parts of the feather depict the divinity of the soul of Radha and Krishna and their journey, while the dark hues depict the pain that they went through ages to atain permanent reunion.
HOLD BEYOND ETERNITY
According to the legend of Radha Krishna they were separated because Krishna had to leave Vrindawan to free his biological parents. Even after leaving Vrindawan their bond never broke, because being Twin Souls one can feel the joys and pains of the other being. The twin souls are said to lead Parallel Lives. The bond which is shared between Radha and Krishna is way above the materialistic and worldly affections. Even though they were never tied in holy matrimony, it is their bond that is the epitome of love and the bond that is written about,
sung about, prayered to and celebrated. Their bond shows that love is not only about receiving but it is about sacrificing, and it proves that being together physically is not love but, loving each other is what matters the most.
REINCARNATION
Meera Bai is widely known as an incarnation of Radha, the consort of Krishna. Meera’s family, were great devotees of Vishnu. From her early childhood Meera exhibited inclination towards the divine. When she was about ten, a saint visited the royal family. He had a beautiful idol of Lord Krishna with him. Meera got very fascinated by the idol. The saint, therefore, while leaving the palace gave that idol to Meera. Meera started taking care of the idol, giving it bath, smearing sandal paste and so on. One day Meera saw a wedding procession with a lot of musical instruments being played and amongst them the bridegroom was riding on a horse. The bridegroom was adorned and was the center of attraction. Meera looked curiously towards the procession and asked who her bridegroom was? A relative of Meera in a lighter way told her that Krishna was her bridegroom. She was yet a child. From that day Meera took Nandnandan Lord Shri Krishna as her husband. In her dreams also she started having glimpse of her Lord. In her devotion for Krishna Meera travelled from Mewar to Dwarka singing and dedicating songs to Krishna. The legend says that she was dancing infront of the idol of Krishna when she tripped and fell and the door of the sanctorum closed there was light everywhere. The doors of the sanctum sanctorum opened a few minutes later. But Meera Bai was not to be seen. Her saree was enveloping the murti of Krishna. People heard Meera singing and Krishna playing his divine flute. She merged with Krishna, the aim of every devotee. Meera attained moksha through unwavering devotion to Lord Krishna. Meera is said to be a incarnation of Radha since no one can love Krishna as much as Radha.
MELODIES OF VRINDAVAN
Krishna is a cosmic musician, and the tune he creates by playing his transcendental flute is embodied with cosmic energy. He expresses irresistible joy on his reed. When Krishna leaves Vrindawan. Radha waits for him on his way and when Krishna asks the driver to stop the cart, Akrura asks, “Who is she?” Krishna responds, “Everyone is drawn to me, but I am drawn to her!”Radha applies an auspicious tilak on Krishna’s forehead. Krishna asks her if she wants to say something to him, to which she responds, “Something can be said only to him who does not perceive. I know, as well as you know; then what else needs to be said?” As Krishna, with tearful eyes, offers his flute to her, Radha responds, “Keep it with you as my memory; it’s filled with my heart’s yearning call for you.” Krishna promises her that he alone will listen to that call, and hereafter his flute will be silent for the rest of the world. The flute is a symbolism to Each personality which is structured with eight spots, i.e., with five organs of perception and mind, intellect and ego. The Almighty God fills us with his breath — life — and plays upon these spots to bring out the melody.
ENCHANTED FOREST OF LOVE
Vrindavan is now known as the “City of Widows,” as it harbours a floating population of nearly 20,000 women who migrate here after losing their husbands to sing hymns to Krishna. The days Krishna resided in vrindawan he took out cows for herding in the forest and playing flute in the middle of the forest, and Radha dancing to the tunes of his flute. Radha was beautiful and Krishna recollected the touch of her hands, the fragrance of her breath. He could have listened to her talk for hours without hearing anything she said. He would watch the ballet of her lips. He felt his heartbeat adjust itself to the rhythm of her anklets. Her eyes were softer than those of the cows he milked in the evening.
She wove flowers into a wreath for her hair which matched the garland she put around his neck. Her laugh was as the sunlight caught in the dew at Sunrise. When she got angry the thunder clouds seem to be born on her curved brows. When Radha smiled, Krishna was convinced that he was born just to see this smile.
He was jealous of the bangles that caressed her forearms. Of her Odhni she tucked in neatly between her breasts where he had often rested his dreaming head. He cherished her love for him, lust for him wherein he saw the Universe his mother Yashoda was alleged to have seen in her son’s mouth. Radha’s smell, taste, texture; he came alive became a man when he was with her. She was his. He was hers. This was the way it was supposed to be.
EMBODIMENT OF SOULS
The relationship of Radha and Krishna is the embodiment of love, passion and devotion. Radha's passion for Krishna symbolizes the soul's intense longing and willingness for the ultimate unification with God. Shri Krishna is the soul of Radha and Radha is definitely the soul of Krishna. She is the undivided form of Krishna. She will remain a mystery unless one can know her inexpressible divine elements. She is worshipper as well as his deity to be worshipped. She being a beloved of Shri Krishna is known as "Radhika". Real love exists between Radha and Krishna. Real love is transcendental and spiritual. We have to become attracted to spiritual love and give up false love and beauty, which are only skin-deep. There is nothing beautiful underneath the skin. Krishna consciousness means to be serious and determined to transcend the material attraction between man and woman in order to become attracted to the lotus feet of Radha and Krishna. Srila Prabhupada said, "The sum and substance of material life is attraction for woman. And the sum and substance of spiritual life is attraction for Radha-Krishna".
