American (In)Justice Magazine

American (In)Justice is the result of a joint project between Rolling Stone and Variety magazines aimed at exploring and debating policy solutions to America's broken prison industrial complex. The publishing team commissioned me to brand this project in print and I created a new grid, design system and complete style sheets and templates.
The project used a bright orange Pantone spot color throughout reminiscent to the iconic orange prison jumpsuit.
The cover was printed on a soft-touch matte finished paper with spot gloss varnish on the metal bar illustration (by Alvaro Dominguez) and project logo, and was custom die-cut to reveal a collage (by Lincoln Agnew) of prisoners whose stories are explored inside the magazine.
