Capiz Shell is an abondant resource in Philippines.
The shells have been used for thousands of years as a glass substitute because of their durability and translucence. More recently, they have been used in the manufacture of decorative.
Naturally, capiz is translucent, once the shell is baked, it becomes opaque
Working on glass, a tranparent material, I chose to work with baked pearly capiz to have a play of light and shadow. Each piece is cut by hand following the pattern,  and delicately applied on glass.
