Ghost Plane

Before we get into the details of this project I would like to tell you about the creative process that led me to its construction.

It may sound strange, but my initial goal was to make a kind of volcanic dragon that would spit lava, however, when searching for the images that would serve as the basis for my assembly I came across a misty and gloomy scenario where a dragon spit flames, seeing that image I thought of creating something more picturesque, instead of the dragon I imagined a plane flying over a dark place similar to that image.

Antes de abordarmos os detalhes deste projeto gostaria de vos falar o processo criativo que me levou à sua construção.

Pode parecer estranho, mas meu objetivo inicial era fazer uma espécie de dragão vulcânico que cuspisse lava, entretanto ao buscar as imagens que serviriam de base para minha montagem me deparei com um senário nebuloso e sombrio em que um dragão cuspia chamas, vendo aquela imagem pensei em criar algo mais pitoresco, ao invés do dragão imaginei um avião sobrevoando um local tenebroso semelhante à aquela imagem.

Inicialmente escolhi a imagem do avião

To give the plane a more realistic and ghostly tone I changed its color using the Hue/Saturation tool, however, I wanted to do something more dramatic as if its turbine was burning hot, so taking advantage that I had downloaded an image of a volcano to use in the dragon project I put it in place of the turbine and to hide the unwanted parts I applied the Layer Mask.

Para dar um tom mais realístico e fantasmagórico ao avião mudei sua cor através da ferramenta Matiz/Saturação, no entanto, quis fazer algo mais dramático como se sua turbina ardesse em brasas, então aproveitando que eu tinha baixado uma imagem de um vulcão para utilizar no projeto do dragão coloquei-a no lugar da turbina e para esconder as partes indesejadas apliquei a Máscara de Camada.

Now it was time to change the background, I selected an image of the sunrise and put it as the background, I also downloaded a fog and put it around the aircraft changing its blending mode so that the background disappeared.

Agora foi a vez de alterar o fundo, selecionei uma imagem da alvorada do sol e a coloquei como fundo, além disso, fiz o download de uma névoa e a coloquei em volta da aeronave alterando seu modo de mesclagem para que o fundo preto da fumaça desaparecesse.

After that I performed some Hue/Saturation adjustments and the application of Gradients to the whole image in which we can observe a huge difference in the tonality of the colors after this process.

Após isso realizei alguns ajustes de Matiz/Saturação e a aplicação de Degrades em toda a imagem na qual podemos observar uma enorme diferença na tonalidade das cores após esse processo.
