Salven El Yasuní

In 2014 the Ecuadorian government was pursuing the exploitation of the ITT, a petroleum block placed in the heart of the Yasuní natural park in the Amazonian rainforest.

The extraction of this block's oil represented a harsh ecological balance for the natural park which to this day contains the richest biodiversity in the world as well as the two last known indigenous groups living in voluntary isolation in Ecuador, the tagaeri and taromenane.

The government decision had strong public contestation from the Ecuadorian people as well as the ecological and human rights organizations (Fundación Pachamama, Acción Ecológica, CDES). 

A petition for a referendum was proposed to the Constitutional Court. In order to validate this initiative the organizations had to collect a certain amount of signatures.

This video was a visual aid and support for broadcasting in social media and the organizations' websites, for informing people and for getting the attention of potential signatories.

The quota of signatures was accomplished but the process of validating them by the Constitutional Court lacked transparency. The human rights and ecological organizations couldn't participate as impartial observers during this process.

Sadly a great amount of signatures were not validated and the rest didn't correspond to the minimum required by the Constitutional Court.

Nowadays this block is exploited along all the ecological and human rights consequences it implies.

En 2014 le gouvernement équatorien contemplait l'exploitation de l'ITT, un bloc pétrolier qui se situe dans le coeur de la réserve naturelle Yasuní en Amazonie équatorienne.

L'exploitation de ce bloc représentait un fort bilan écologique dans la réserve naturelle qui loge le plus de biodiversité au monde ainsi que deux peuples en isolement volontaire, les tagaeri et taromenane.

La décision du gouvernement d'exploiter ce bloc fut fortement contestée par la population équatorienne et les fondations et associations écologiques et de droits de l'homme (Fundación Pachamama, Acción Ecológica, CDES). 

Une pétition de référendum fut proposée au Tribunal Constitutionnel. 

Afin de valider cette initiative les associations devaient remplir un quota de signatures.
Cette vidéo était un support de diffusion pour informer la population à ce sujet et attirer l'attention de potentiels signataires.

Toutes les signatures nécessaires furent collectées mais le processus de validation des mêmes par le Tribunal Constitutionnel fut trouble. Les fondations et associations ne purent participer à ce processus absent de toute transparence et d'impartialité.
Malheureusement, un gran pourcentage des signatures ne fut pas validé et les restantes ne correspondaient pas au minimum requis par le Tribunal Constitutionnel.

De nos jours ce bloc est exploité avec toutes les conséquences écologiques et humaines que cela implique.
