This initial drop cap was inspired by Jessica Hische's Daily Drop Cap project. The style idea for this particular letter came from a combination of the earliest known copperplate engraving: The Master of the Three Playing Cards, The Three Birds and illuminated manuscripts like the Book of Hours or the Ormesby Psalter with a modern color palette and illustration style. This project was done while I was in college and was an exercise in learning how to use the pen tool. I came out the other side alive.
