Foley Effects

1.  Why must they create every single sound for animations and games?
They don't come with sounds, and sounds would make the game more impactful. Some free sound effects might not be the desired sound effect. Sound effects may also be copyrighted.
2.  Why can't actors/actresses actually smash a glass to have the real effect?
It would be dangerous, and there would be more cleanup. Also, the sound wouldn't be as impactful.
3.  Why can't actors/actresses use real explosions?
A real explosion can be damaging and dangerous. Additionally the mic can blow up.
4.  Why can't movie crews install a real phone that actually calls the actor/actress?
Installing a real phone would take up more work than needed.
5.  Why can't actors/actress attach microphones to their ankles to record the actual sounds?
The audio might not be clear, and the mic has to be hidden from the camera.
6.  Why can't actors/stuntmen/ and actresses/stuntwomen do their own fight scenes and actually make contact to make it look real??
A real fight scene would not be safe, and can cause injuries.
7.  How do sound designers/directors know what all these science fiction sounds are supposed to sound like?
They don't, they use their imagination.
8.  Why can't they use a microphone when recording real rain?
The rain might damage the microphone.

PART C: LAYERING
First Sound: Lightning

A thunder sound with rain. The sounds included were my aluminum foil, and rice recordings from previously. I also felt like adding white noise. I filtered out the high frequencies, and made most of the layers bassy, so there was a rumble. Then most of the tracks were pitched down. In total there were 10 layers.
Second Sound: Bell

A big bell ringing once. The sounds included were my water bottle, paperclip, and plate recordings. Everything had included reverb, most of the tracks were pitched down, and most of the high frequencies were filtered. In total there were 6 layers.
Third Sound: Jump Effect

Some sort of traditional jumping sound. The sounds included were my door stopper, and stick recordings. I made the door stopper tracks have different pitches, speeds, reverbs, and frequencies until the track sounds good enough.
