An Infographic Depicting One's Commute to Work
OBJECTIVE / Choose an event that is traditionally notated in hours, minutes, and seconds. Rethink the idea of either a timeline or calendar and determine a different set of measurements that could occur within that event. Consider cause and effect as different elements interact with each other, and identify a constant which occurs throughout the event. Develop a detailed infographic devoid of time notation, and use those alternative measurements in order to illustrate the event from start to finish.
APPROACH / The event I chose for this project deals with an individual’s commute to work. As this person rides on BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit), he plays the video game Flappy Bird on his phone. A number of different factors affect his concentration on his gameplay, including passengers bumping into him as they board onto the train. His high score increases when there is a long, interrupted section between stations, but as he focuses on his game, he does not realize that he missed his stop.
