Issue Four of my self-published Essay Magazine. Having this ability has been one of the most entertaining and strategic aspects of the self-pub era. I don't make any attempt to sell mine. I use these as both a way of showing how a work was intended to be seen as well as a printed introduction to clients I want to work with. I publish in both Magazine, 8.5x11 and Trade Book, 6x9. Both softcover, and both about $10. One is not better than the other, just different. These magazines have landed me some of the best jobs I've ever had. In an age of social media mayhem the printed object cuts through all the noise. These show I can encapsulate an idea, tell a story, edit, sequence and complete a project.(The idea for doing this came from the original Life Magazine and the impact that publication had on my life. I was published in Life exactly one time but it remains one of the highlights of my career.)
