I started this project with sketches of my own face, simply and detailed to better understand my features and structure before developing further work  I used both pen and pencil for these drawings.

I experimented with different kinds of shading in order to create the right amount of depth.

For size reference, the larger portrait it A3, while the smaller portrait is the same size as the image of the larger portrait.

For the latter part of the project, I investigated more abstract forms of portraiture as well as the 3D aspect of it, using materials such as clay, cardboard, wood, wire, and even christmas lights(light portraiture)!

I studied several artists such as picasso and Giacometti for this project, however the artist's work that intrigued me the most was the work of chuck close, and his use of shape and colour, creating one portrait of my own in his style.
