Nguyen Ngoc Phuong Linh's profile

hometown - through my eyes.

hometown -
- through my eyes.
I was born in a small village in Bac Ninh, Vietnam, filled with my memorable
childhood memories with my family, especially my beloved great-grandparents.
I have been to many modern cities, but for me, this is still the most beautiful place in my life

Although there are some things changed,
my feelings for this place
are always the same.

This is a series of photos capturing the familiar and typical moments and sceneries of my hometown, reminding me of my childhood days that I made during the Lunar New Year 2021.

Hope you guys enjoy it.
this is how my house and the village entrance look like from the 1950s until 2014, before it was rebuilt and remodeled  (reappeard by a paradigm)  and from 2014 until now.

but there are still have
some things that never change ...

my beloved great-grandparents has always been here with their posterity -
                                 - in a different way.

some kinds of my great-grandfather favorite flowers, are always put on the altar.

traditional meal on the Lunar New Year Day

A nearly 100-year-old Kalanchoe flower vase - well-known as "Miracle Leaf" or "Leaf of Life", placed in the house since my great-grandparents were alive, still lush and daily watered until now

the alleys - where i used to play traditional game "Mandarin Square Capturing" with my neighborhood friends

an old grocery store - with a special sales way between seller and purchasers, takes place only through a window with the red bars

the electric pole around the corner.

although the old house has been replaced with a new, a more spacious house, but the old items and furniture
are still retained for continued use till these days

after all ,
from a story narrated through a series of photos of family
Our memory is a more perfect world than the universe : it gives back life to those who no longer exist.
As Guy de Maupassant once said, thr memoirs I have had here shall stay for eternity.
