Bird Illustrations
The Bird Illustrations were a project that I turned into a pleasant piece of wall art. They were originally done with colored pencil but after scanning and editing them they look like they are pencil drawn. I roughly wrote in the names of the Midwestern birds and lettered certain body parts to give them an anatomy textbook feel. There were bird feeders outside of the windows of the home I grew up in. I would sit and watch birds and try to identify them with my "Birds of Wisconsin Pocket Guide". The Common Grackle is my personal favorite. At first glance they are black but if the sun hits them just right they are a rainbow of cool colors. I find the red of the tanager and the blue of the grackle to be striking when contrasted.
