A series of artworks were created and exhibited at an arts and poetry night for a friend. There was no brief or expectation but it was a cultural event so I created works which could not only be a representation of my culture, but also my skill and love for design. Being of Assyrian decent, we have a long history which dates back thousands of years before Christ and are listed as the cradle of civilisation and the inventors of the great wheel.

 

Seen here is a typographic artwork inspired by an ancient Assyrian relief of a winged guardian angel. The typography is made up of both the modern Assyrian alphabet and also ancient Assyrian alphabet. This relief was found in the entrances of palaces, and symbol of the outstretched hand represented the deity blessing people as they entered.
